Preparing before your first laser hair removal treatment at Salon House using the Candela Alexandrite Gentlelase Pro.

Shave the Treatment Area: A day before your appointment, shave the treatment area using a clean, new razor. This step is necessary as it removes the hair above the skin surface while leaving the hair follicles intact, allowing the laser energy to target them effectively. Avoid waxing, plucking, threading, or any methods of hair removal where you are pulling out the hair from the follicle 10 days before.

Avoid Sun Exposure: Protect your skin from sun exposure/sunbeds for at least 1/ 2 weeks before your appointment. Sunburned or tanned skin is more susceptible to side effects such as blistering, pigmentation changes, or discomfort during treatment. If you cannot avoid sun exposure, apply broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher to the treatment area.

Avoid Skin Irritants: Refrain from using any skin irritants, such as harsh exfoliants, retinol creams, or products containing alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) for about a week before your appointment. These can make your skin more sensitive, increasing the risk of adverse reactions during and after the treatment.

Clean and Hydrate Your Skin: On the day of your appointment, ensure your skin is clean and free from any lotions, oils, deodorants, or makeup. Cleanse the area thoroughly, but avoid applying moisturizers or creams immediately before the session, as they can interfere with the laser’s effectiveness.

Wear Suitable Clothing: Choose loose-fitting and comfortable clothing to wear to your appointment. It should allow easy access to the treatment area and prevent any friction or irritation afterward. Avoid tight clothing that may rub against your skin.

Communicate Any Medications or Medical Conditions: Inform the technician about any medications you are taking or medical conditions you have, as some medications or conditions may affect the laser treatment. They will advise you on any necessary precautions or adjustments.
